Hydroelectric Power
Blake V.
Uses water to create energy
From a lake or some body of water, through the intake gate, water flows in. The water gains kinetic energy as it flows through the penstock. The rushing water spins a turbine, and then it flows into the river. The spinning turbine activates a generator, and the generator makes electric power. It is used to bring high amounts of power to cities.
- Advantages: It causes no pollution and it is easy to find a body of water.
- Disadvantages: Making uses fossil fuels and you have to modify the land a lot.
